When you hear the name Panasonic, what immediately comes to mind may be electronics or entertainment systems, but rarely do you think of vacuum cleaners. Panasonic manufactures a large variety of products, including home appliances like vacuum cleaners. Panasonic vacuums are known to be quite powerful, long lasting, and rich with the features you would need in a modern cleaner.

A Japanese-based company, Panasonic began in 1918 with the invention of a two-socket light fixture by Konosuke Matsushita, who soon after founded the company that eventually became Panasonic. Established in America in 1959, the Matsushita Electric Corporation of America, as it was known, gained the name Panasonic Corporation of North America in 2005. Today, it continues to manufacture and deliver a wide range of products throughout the United States and to countries around the world.

But enough about the company, let’s talk about the best canister vacuums Panasonic has to offer:

1. Panasonic MC-CG937 OptiFlow Canister Vacuum

Panasonic MC-CL937 Canister VacuumThe Panasonic MC-CG937 Optiflow is one of Panasonic’s well rated canister vacuums. It is also one of the two canister vacuums of Panasonic blessed and equipped with the Optiflow Technology. OptiFlow technology, according to Panasonic, involves using a double walled vacuum bag coupled with a special venting system to help maintain airflow through the machine’s vacuum bags. This ensures limited drop-off in vacuum suction as the bag fills.

  • Powerful “Bag” Canister with 12 Amp Motor, 24 foot Power cord w/Cord Reel
  • OptiFlow System with separate large bag caddy for easy emptying of dust bag and 20% more use of bag for optimum bag usage and airflow
  • Power Nozzle with Overload Protection reset, Bare Floor switch on handle with Variable Power Control
  • Tools on-board include: (Floor brush, Dusting & Upholstery Brush, Crevice Tool, Pet Turbine Mini-brush) and Aluminum Telescopic Wand

Solid performer across all floor types, this vacuum cleaner accommodates both bare-floor surfaces and carpets beautifully. Simply flip the switch on the handle to “floor”, which turns on just the canister motor, or to “carpet”, which turns on both the canister motor and the power nozzle motor. There’s also 4-position height adjustment depending on the height of the carpet.

Unlike other canisters out there, this one features a unique removable vacuum bag caddy. With this feature, changing and disposing of bags will not be an issue. The bag caddy can be lifted out of canister. Two HEPA dust bags are included in the package. The genuine Panasonic Type C-19 HEPA vacuum bags may be a little pricey but they have large dust capacity, meaning fewer bag changes. A number of on-board tools such as floor brush and crevice tool are also included that will make vacuuming easier. The tools fit into a compartment. The telescopic wand is adjustable to accommodate operators of any height. People with a bad back will appreciate this feature.

The MC-CG937 OptiFlow has a 24 foot power cord that retracts with a push of your foot. The cord rewind feature is great for storage and convenience. It eliminates tedious cord winding. For some people the self-retracting power cord is not a big deal. However, it is still a nice extra.

The Panasonic OptiFlow carries a 1 year limited manufacturer’s warranty. This seems a little short (in my opinion) given that the vacuum is generally between $200 and $300, however I have not read of many problems with the machine.

Pros:
  • The 12 amp motor definitely delivers powerful suction
  • The Optiflow Technology and the HEPA filters
  • Very versatile
  • The 4-position carpet height adjustment
  • Easy to maneuver
Cons:
  • Heavy for a canister vacuum; weighs a hefty 23 pounds
  • The handle is not ergonomically designed
  • Price

2. Panasonic MC-CL943 JetForce Canister Vacuum

As part of the Urban Series, the MC-CL943 is designed for the cramped apartments that are increasingly common in modern cities. Consequently, the compact vacuum includes a number of conveniences that make navigating around apartments just a little bit easier, regardless of your square footage. It’s a compact and quiet-running cleaning system that can eliminate dirt, dust and pet hair from virtually every surface

in your home. Driven by a powerful 11-amp motor, it features a cyclonic suction system that utilizes an hourglass-shaped dust cup to capture and compress dust, dirt and other debris for easy disposal. Everything you could wish for in a vacuum is built into this technologically advanced model, including HEPA filtration, multi-surface cleaning and a detachable debris container, which means you’ll never have to deal with a messy vacuum bag again.

  • Jet Force Technology
  • Powerful 11-Amp Motor
  • Quiet Operation
  • Compact and Lightweight
  • Zero Turning Radius Design

The powerful 11-amp motor uses Jet Force Technology to suck in dirt, dust, and debris, and quickly separate them from the incoming air flow. All of the material you pick up is forced into the hourglass-shaped dust cup without interrupting the flow of air. There’s no loss of suction with this system and you get the same powerful cleaning on every inch of your floor.

All controls are on the handle, fairly common with modern canister vacuums, but a welcome addition nonetheless. The MC-CL943 has a Carpet mode and Floor mode: Carpet mode uses an agitator to release dust particles, while Floor disengages the agitator to prevent it from pushing dust away from the nozzle. The power nozzle works its magic on hard floors and carpets alike. With the flick of a switch, you can engage the soft-bristle agitation to work deeply into carpets and rugs or to softly buff hard floors for a shining finish. You can even use this vacuum to clean the tricky line between floor and walls without any back-breaking maneuvering or having to risk scraping and scratching by using just the wand nozzle. The edge grabber tool allows you to tilt the head flush to your walls and clean the hard to reach areas.

Pros:
  • Considering the power of the motor and the effectiveness of its suction, this vacuum is surprisingly quiet.
  • Small features such as the retractable cord, quick draw tools, and the well-placed switch for the bristle agitators make using it fuss free. Your time will be spent actually cleaning and not fiddling around with attachments or winding up cords.
  • It’s easy to maneuver, even if you have a multi-level home. The lightweight design makes it easy to lift up stairs and get to where you need to go.
  • The edge cleaner is awesome for cleaning wall trims, pelmets, and any hard to reach corners in your home.
  • The compact design makes it easy to slide the machine under furniture to prevent dust and allergens accumulating in unseen places.
Cons:
  • The dust cup is fairly small and will need to be emptied if you’re vacuuming a large house in one go.

3. Panasonic MC-CL310 Bagless Vacuum

Panasonic MC-CL310 Bagless Canister VacuumCompared to the Optiflow and the Jetforce, this machine is much cheaper. Mainly because it uses straight suction only, it does not come with an agitator. It was designed with hard floor surfaces in mind.

  • Powerful 11AMP motor system, Bagless design for no replacement of messy bags
  • Multi-Angle “Suction only” Floor Nozzle that allows the 8″ nozzle to be maneuvered into tight or narrow spaces while keeping the nozzle flat against the surface being cleaned.
  • 360 Degree 6 Foot Swivel Hose connection feature that allows you to clean in any direction with out the hose becoming twisted. HEPA Fliter System
  • 16 Foot Cord length with Automatic Cord Reel, Tools on-board attachments include: Crevice tool with flip-up bristles

The MC-CL310 only weighs 13 pounds, making it easy to carry the hose and canister. It has a 16-foot cord and an 8-inch cleaning path. Both the cord and cleaning path are comparatively smaller than the previous models, which means you will cover less surface and have to switch outlets more often. However, the cord is retractable so you won’t have to wind it up after each cleaning.

Combining an 11 Amp motor with smooth maneuverability, this canister-style vacuum cleaner by Panasonic delivers powerful cleaning performance. Two large wheels make it easy to roll from one location to the next, while it’s long, 360-degree swivel hose and multi-directional 8 in. floor nozzle allow for extended reach across floors, over carpeting, and under furniture. For above-floor cleaning, simply remove the floor nozzle to attach one of the onboard tools. Use the dusting brush to clean tabletops, lamp shades, and other surfaces, and put the crevice tool to work sucking up dirt, pet hair, and crumbs from in between couch cushions and other tight spots. The combo crevice tool and dusting brush store on the wand for quick access. Even more, the vacuum cleaner’s Edge Grabber attachment features a unique shape that conforms and directs maximum suction to hard-to-clean areas like where floors meet baseboards.

Pros:
  • Powerful 11 AMP motor
  • Very good for bare floors
  • Lightweight and easy to maneuver
  • Price
  • 16 Foot Cord length with automatic cord reel
Cons:
  • A bare unit that comes with basic suction
  • Not effective for carpet cleaning

cordless vacuum cleanersDetermining the best cordless vacuum you should buy will depend on how you expect to use it. If you are just looking for something that can help you with small spills or for cleaning up your car, then a basic, affordable handheld vacuum will do. However, if you want to utilize cordless technology in order to clean your hardwood or tile floors, then a stick or upright cordless vacuum cleaner is what you are looking for.

In addition to price, the determining factors for most consumers is the power of the motor, the length of time you can vacuum without recharging the battery, and the type and length of warranty that the item comes with. For the most part, the major vacuum manufacturers – Hoover, Dyson, and Miele – all have vacuums at various price points so you have a choice as to just how much machine you opt to buy.

In few cases will a cordless vacuum cleaner completely replace a traditional one, but they are great to have around the house and can help you with cleaning up messes, small areas, or even your vehicle. In addition, many people find that cordless cleaners are actually much better at cleaning floors because they don’t tend to spit out debris like a regular vacuum cleaner would. All in all, these are very handy items to have around your home, and you will probably find more uses for a cordless vacuum than you already know.

Popular Models of Cordless Vacuum Cleaner

The Dyson DC31 Handheld Vacuum Cleaner is a very popular model in the higher price range. It is extremely powerful, and will allow you to vacuum for up to ten minutes of “high constant suction” or six minutes of 70 percent higher suction. It has a motorized brush bar which will help you to clean animal hair from fabric or carpet, and it also comes with a high-velocity crevice tool so you can get under your car seats. This model weighs in at less than three pounds and comes with a two-year warranty.

The Miele S163 Universal Mini Upright Vacuum is one of the more popular “stick” or cordless upright vacuums. It is ideal for wood or tile floors, yet will still provide you with sufficient suction for carpets. It uses dust bags, which some people may see as a disadvantage, but it also has a two-speed power selector that will enable you to preserve battery life. Being lightweight, it makes doing floors a lot easier.

The Hoover Linx Cordless Stick Vacuum Cleaner is another powerful upright cordless vacuum cleaner that has a best in class six-year limited warranty. There is a two-year limited warranty on the battery and charger, and this model actually outperforms traditional corded models on hardwood floors. With WindTunnel Technology and cyclonic filtration, you will really get a lot of power out of this machine.

How Should You Care for Your Cordless Vacuum Cleaner?

One reason that many cordless vacuums don’t last is because people don’t pay close attention to how and when to charge the battery. If you have had cordless vacuums in the past and found that the battery just wouldn’t charge or that the charge wouldn’t hold, then you were most likely charging it incorrectly.

All cordless vacuums that are sold today come with full charging instructions that should be followed. This will help to ensure that you get the longest life out of your battery and your vacuum and that it will be ready when you need it.

Another thing to keep in mind is that there are dry vacuums and wet/dry vacuums and if you try to vacuum up a liquid with a dry vacuum, you may well destroy it. Therefore, plan ahead and if you find yourself picking up a lot of liquids, then pay the extra amount to get a full wet/dry vacuum.

Most cordless vacuums now operate without a bag, which means that the debris is sucked up into a container and held there until you empty it. However, although you may not have to buy bags anymore, you will still have to buy filters. The filters help to filter the air and remove allergens and will need to be replaced from time to time. Each manufacturer has their own type of filters, with widely varying prices, so be sure to check the price of the filters before you buy your cordless vacuum cleaner.

best commercial vacuumWhen looking for the best commercial vacuum cleaner, it is important to know the specs of the machine that is most suitable for your needs. Commercial vacuum cleaners are touted to be long lasting cleaning machines, and are more durable than their domestic counterparts.

In addition, they understandably have more parts than the domestic version of the same. This design is so that the commercial vacuum cleaners are able to carry out an efficient job in getting rid of the dirt.

Part of getting to know how efficient the best commercial vacuum cleaner is involves going through reviews. This is done to see what users have to say about the products of interest, as well as to help make a conscious decision.

Taking care of your commercial vacuums!

In spite of this, even the best commercial vacuum cleaner has a lifespan. For this reason, it is important for clients to consider ways in which they can extend the lifespan of the appliance. This will not only save money, it will also save the individual the time that is used up when shopping for a new commercial vacuum cleaner.

First, it is important to always clean the vacuum cleaner once it has been used. If for instance, you are using an upright version of the best commercial vacuum cleaner, it is imperative to unplug the appliance from the electric source and allow it to cool for a few minutes.

The brush roll located at the bottom is then removed to eliminate as much of the accumulated dirt as possible. If the dirt is too much, it is advisable to soak up the roll in warm soapy water to loosen the dirt, after which it is rinsed and left to dry.

A second way in which you can ensure that even the best commercial vacuum cleaner is maintained properly is cleaning the filters found in it. Usually commercial cleaners have stronger filters than domestic cleaners, and as a result will often have more dust pass through them.

The two filters-the pre-filter and the post-filter- are removed from the appliance and rinsed in soapy water. Gentle brushing of the filters should adequately get rid of the debris. The filters are then dried- caution must be taken not to put the filters back when they are still wet as this could damage the other internal compartments.

Thirdly, even the commercial vacuums are powerful and efficient but you are advices that do not used the cleaner for too long hours in one-go. It’s good if you rest the vacuum for some time if the vacuum got heated and this can generally prevent the machine from over-heated.

Once in a while, the belt found inside the cleaner gets jammed up so that suddenly the vacuum cleaner starts making a lot of noise. To counter this, one must buy the ideal replacement belt. Part of proper maintenance to ensure the belt works optimally involves avoiding wet dirt such as food spills and messy patches on the carpet.

Ultimately, using the appliance carefully will go a long way in ensuring that the commercial vacuum cleaner lasts for a longer time. On the outside of the cleaner, wiping the surface with a damp piece of cloth should go a long way in keeping the cleaner clean.

Conclusion

These are routine maintenance procedures that will go a long way in maintaining even the best commercial vacuum cleaners. The good practices and caring of your cleaner will make your machine last longer and hence not need to buy vacuum regularly.

If needed, always ask for professional advice when maintaining the cleaner and use the genuine replacement parts if certain parts are malfunctioning. You also can directly contact the support team from the vacuum cleaner manufacturer ask get help from them to solve your vacuum related questions.

Once you have made the decision that this is a machine that you want to have for the convenience of fast and easy cleanup of those various messes and spills that occur from time to time, your next task is to find the right machine for your needs. Here are a few key considerations you will want to ponder as you explore the various models available to choose from:

  • Do you need a machine only for in-home use or automotive use?
  • Do you need a multi-purpose machine that can be used for workshop or garage use as well for your home and cars, too?
  • Do you need attachments for scrubbing?
  • What length of power cord is best suited for your needs and regular usage?
  • Do you have storage limitations that need to be considered?
  • Do you have physical limitations that may limit your ability to work with a heavier machine?

By considering some of these factors, you will find that the task of picking and choosing the right wet dry vacuum cleaner that meets your needs is an easy task to complete. In addition to considering these factors, there are a few other things you will want to pay attention to as you choose which machine you will buy. For one, you may want to consider buying a slightly outdated model that is on clearance. This is a cost-saving strategy that can get you a perfectly powerful and useful machine at a discounted price.

You will also want to look at the length of the warranty on the various machines you are considering. While some of the wet dry vacuum cleaner models are very affordable, others are pricier and you certainly don’t want to contend with your machine breaking down and not being under warranty. Plus, when a manufacturer backs their product with a warranty, you will find that you have a greater confidence level in purchasing it.

There is also the consideration of where you will purchase your machine. There are numerous online retailers that offer various wet dry vacuum cleaner models, and buying online certainly comes with its benefits. When you purchase your machine online, you can enjoy the benefit of faster, easier comparisons of the features, warranty information, and price. Keep in mind, however, that many online retailers do charge an additional shipping fee. Sometimes there is no shipping fee at all, and sometimes this fee is nominal given the convenience of having your machine shipped right to your door. However, other times the fee borders on exorbitant, and may make buying one machine over another far more or far less attractive.

Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner

The Pros and Cons of Wet Dry Vacuum Cleaner

If you aren’t quite sure you have a need for your own wet dry vacuum cleaner, you may want to think again. These multi-purpose machines have the ability to make clean-up jobs in your home, car, workshop, and more a breeze. When you have one of these machines on hand, you don’t have to worry that cleaning up the next mess that happens will take more time than you have available. This machine has the power to handle the job that both your steamer and your traditional vacuum would do, and most have the ability to clean up the bigger pieces of debris that you might otherwise have to pick up by hand! Clearly there are some unbeatable benefits to having such a device at home.

Yet as functional and versatile as these machines are, they aren’t the only vacuum that you will want to have on hand. A wet dry vacuum cleaner is great for major cleanup jobs and even for minor spills, too. Whether you have a wet mess, a dry mess, or maybe a combination of both, this is a perfectly functional machine to pull out. A wet dry vac, however, is not well suited for a thorough in-home cleaning. It is not the machine you would pull out to steam clean your carpets when you do your spring cleaning or to handle the task of your weekly vacuuming chore either. These machines don’t generally have the soapy water container or the various attachments that other machines have. They also are harder to move around than more traditional models of cleaning machines, so they are more suitable for cleaning in one specific location in a stationary fashion.

While wet dry vacuum models do have their limitations, they also certainly do serve a very useful purpose indeed. This is a machine that almost anyone would benefit from having around to use for messes and spills.

Small canister vacuums are very useful for ones who have hardwood floors and they do not want scar and scuff on that. These kinds of vacuums are good to clean hardwood floors much better than other vacuums available in market.

Moreover, due to its mobility, they have become a great choice for curtains to clean, dusting chairs, shelves and other places that are hard to reach where bulkier vacuum cleaners are hard to reach, at least without shifting or lifting heavy and complex machine.

The way a vacuum cleaner works is relatively simple, a fan within the vacuum is turned on and this creates a low pressure system within the vacuum, which forces the higher pressure on the outside to move towards the low pressure in the only way it can through the hose. This pulls up all that is in direct high pressure area closest to the hose including dirt and dust.

When it comes to how to choose the best vacuum cleaner there are a number of points to bear in mind. Following are the eight criteria that you can consider when getting a new vacuum.

1.     Type of the vacuum cleaner

Once you are in an electronic appliances store, you would be taken aback with all the types of vacuum cleaners that are there. From upright, canister to robotic and from wet/dry vacuum cleaners to floor buffers, there is one for every use. Moreover, if you are very cleanliness oriented, you would be tempted to have more than one type of machine; however you do have to choose one.

This is when you have to clearly know the use and the style of vacuum cleaner that you want to buy. But most people consider whether they need an upright model or whether a cylinder model would be better for their particular situation. Both have their advantages and disadvantages and choosing the right one depends rather on what you are cleaning.

2.     Purpose of use

Firstly, the thing that matters the most while pondering over how to choose a vacuum cleaner is the purpose of use. Unlike all general use electric appliances, vacuum cleaner has a variety of uses ranging from domestic to commercial. Of course, a commercial cleaner cannot be used efficiently at homes or a small office and same is for domestic small machines if used commercially. The size, the power and the mode of operation varies a lot in both the types of vacuum cleaners.

Commercial cleaners are more powerful and have more features compared to the domestic type one. Once you are done deciding the purpose and the target use of the vacuum cleaner, the stage comes when you have to analyze the area that would be cleaned by your new machine.

Canister vacuum is good for hard floors and above floors cleaning as you don’t need to carry the entire unit. One of the best model that I recommend is the Miele Complete C2 Limited edition.

3.     Cleaning area

On the top, the purpose and the cleaning area of the vacuum cleaner may seem to be the same, which however are not. The area not only includes the size of the area that needs to be vacuumed but also the content and the places where the machine would be used. The use of vacuum cleaner is not only limited to rugs and carpets but it is also an effective appliance for sucking out the dust from floors, room or hall corners, sofas and seats and has many other uses depending on the user.

This means that you would need to consider all those aspects while buying one. This includes flooring type such as carpet and hardwood floors. For instance there are multi-floor models available like the Dyson DC39 Ball Vacuum Cleaner, which provides you with the ability to shut the brush bar off to vacuum hardwood floors, vinyl floor, and turn it back on for Carpet.

4.     Budget

A vital aspect of knowing how to choose vacuum cleaner is to know the budget that you can afford for the machine. Once you are clear about the cost frame you have retained, the selection becomes much easier. The small vacuums like handheld or stick vacuum are usually cheaper compare to upright or canister vac. Just ensure that the machine you are buying has a good customer support layout and flexible refund policies in case the machine does not perform as you wanted. Most of the electronic appliances give a minimum of one year complete and three years of limited warranty. Ensuring warranties is always a must not ignore factor.

5. Bag or No Bag?

Manufacturers of bagless vacuum cleaners trump the fact that they are more powerful than those with a bag but this is not necessarily the case. However, with a bagless cleaner you can see when it is full and needs emptying, although some bag models have an indicator light to show when the bag is full and needs changing. Some bagless cleaners do need the filter cleaned regularly in order to maintain peak performance.

One obvious advantage of a bagless cleaner is that you do not have to keep buying bags. Another point to bear in mind when considering how to choose the best vacuum cleaner is that bagless models need to be emptied and it is easy to get dust flying everywhere and breathe it in. This is definitely something to think about if you suffer asthma or from allergies; with a bag model you just remove the bag and throw it in the trash.

6. Filters

Some mid to low range priced models have a micro filter which may either need to be washed or replaced. Other models have a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter which will trap pollen and other very minute particles. This makes them a good candidate for anyone who suffers from allergies. In most cases HEPA filters are washable. However, a point to consider is that the filter is only as good as the dust emptying system – there is little point removing tiny particles from the air if you then breathe them all in again when you empty the machine.

7. Air Watts (Suction Power)

One other factor to consider is air watts which measure the output power and suction of the cleaner. In general an upright cleaner will need 100 air watts as a minimum for effective cleaning, while a cylinder model will require 220 air watts. This is because the cylinder model has to drag the dust through a much greater distance than the upright cleaner.

Also bear in mind that if a HEPA filter is in use it requires more power to drag the air through the filter. For much the same reason, a dirty or clogged filter will considerably impair performance so it is important to clean or change the filter when recommended by the manufacturer. Whatever your final choice, it is almost impossible to keep a house sparkling clean without a vacuum cleaner. When you consider that a good machine can last for many years it is as well to buy a top of the range model if you can afford to.

8. Warranty Periods

As you may know, some vacuum brands offer longer warranty periods than others. Generally we are looking for longer warranty cleaner. For example, most Miele vacuums has 7 years warranty; some Dyson models has 5 years warranty and most of the rest of the brands offer one or two years warranty.
